Tuesday Morning Update #8
Aug 26, 2003 myMusicShare/Save
I’m about five lines away from finishing this goddamn song. Do I stay up until it’s done, or do I punk out, go to sleep, and let it drag on forever? The pale light of morning will reveal the answer….
[Update 8/26 2:22 AM]
The unthinkable has happened. If We Were, the song that I made a short recording of eight whole months ago, which numerous friends have heard, and harassed me for more, is finally done. I mean, it clearly needs some editing, reworking, etc., but the whole structure is there, and there are words and chords from beginning to end. This bodes well, I think.
I am too tired for a full-on update, but I will say more tomorrow….

Hey, thanks Carlos! I guess I forget that most of the people I know now know nothing about my musical side, i.e. the important stuff. Well, welcome to my world!
For those of you who were curious enough to click on that link and are wondering what the hell I’m saying, don’t worry about it – it’s mostly mumbling and nonsense words. I didn’t really have any lyrical ideas for the song while I was putting that little track together, so I just cheated. Thanks to Etan for reminding me…

If it’s done, then why the hell isn’t it posted somewhere that I can hear it? C’mon, dude, I’ve been making do with that snippet for months now. I need that real-deal rough shit, that raw groovetastic boogie. Show me some love.

Done in the traditional sense, i.e. written. There’s no recording and probably won’t be for a LONG time, as it’s a pretty long song, and whenever I listen to it in my head, it’s driven by the drums, which are SO So hard to program realistically. So if all goes well, you will probably see me perform this song and a couple of others before you see any new recording of it…

Seven minutes. This song is seven minutes long when I sing it. Sheesh. No wonder it took so long to finish. I can’t decide whether it’s appropriate to post the lyrics before having ever performed it. Opinions?
