In order to see how we can optimize an orchestra’s performance, it is useful to know it will be rendered by the Csound program. In Csound, the orchestra is executed in a loop-like fashion. Every line of the orchestra that is part of an active instrument is being executed repeatedly so that it continues to generate new samples.

    Each tiny square represents one pixel. Below the mini-Desktop is a palette of eight colors. To edit the enlarged pattern, click a palette color and then click the tiny dots in the enlarged view to change their colors.

    Thank you, Arthur. Today’s e-fad has reminded me that there is no longer any reason to keep the fourth edition of Mac Secrets on my bookshelf. In fact, I’m kind of wondering how that sucker has followed me through every apartment I’ve ever rented.

    Dude, some woman was asking me a question about Final Cut Pro HD today that I couldn’t answer. And I didn’t care. You know why? Because I’m not ashamed to admit that I haven’t memorized the location and content of every single menu command in that program.

    Sheesh.
